Almost Renovation Time!

Hi Everyone! We are chomping at the bit to get out the sledgehammers and start the demolition, but we are gonna do it by the book and wait for the permits… only a few days to go – we can’t wait! Before it’s all over, we will have a new ceiling, new floor, walls, lights and bathrooms, too! Each minute we wait to begin is simply excruciating (you know we hate sitting on our hands) so we thought we would entertain ourselves (and you!) with some “before” photos. Hopefully, within a week or so we will have some “during” photos. And then when it’s over we will have some… oops – Sorry, if you want to see the “after” – you’ll just have to stop by to see us! 😉 Well, maybe we’ll post a teaser…

This wall is history! We’ve grown fond of it over the last few weeks, but, as they say, one big room is better than two mid-sized rooms.* Plus – destroying a wall with a sledgehammer is incredible fun and we highly suggest you do it sometime.

*actually, we made that up

This is so you can see the ceiling that we hate so much and cannot wait to haul to the dumpster. We carbon dated the dirt around the vent and it is from 763 B.C. The best part is the new ceiling will be higher and will have track lighting – a photographers dream!

Yep – we are turning this bathroom into an office. The commodes and sinks go but the slop sink in the corner absolutely stays, it’s a must-have. If you have ever owned one, you would agree. The other bathroom – the space actually came with two – will remain a bathroom.

We call this The Vault. You would call it a storage room. Fun fact: it is actually the space below a bank vault and by code, needs to be built like Fort Knox and fortified with Cryptonite so even Superman cannot break into the vault from below. That’s why we call it The Vault.

Thanks for visiting us! Please come back soon and see some photos of spackle dust and insulation…  Stu
